Family Law: Study of Gender Justice in the Court of Washington

In 1989, the Washington State Task Force on Gender Justice in the Courts issued its final report after a 20 month study of the extent and consequences of gender bias in the Washington State Courts, along with its recommendations.

This extensive study (several hundred pages of text), was released at the end of 1989. It is available in its entirely on the Internet at Washington Courts.

The report is recommended reading for anyone interested how the court perceives and resolves gender bias.

The report is helpful in understanding the how and why a court might order spousal maintenance or a disproportionate division of assets in a divorce. Feel free to talk to one of our experienced family law attorneys about how this might effect your divorce action.
